Dental Emergencies Can Strike Anytime, Anywhere

  • Toothaches: A dull ache or sharp pain in your tooth could be caused by a cavity, infection, or even damaged nerves. Don't ignore it – a toothache can snowball into bigger problems if left untreated.
  • Knocked-Out Tooth: If you act fast after having a tooth knocked out, there's a good chance we can still save it. Gently pick it up by the crown (the white part) and rinse it with milk or water. Then get to our office as soon as you can!
  • Cracked Crown or Filling: When you chip a crown or filling. The sensitive inner layers of your tooth are exposed, making it painful and more prone to infection. We can repair or replace damaged crowns and fillings to prevent further complications.
  • Dental Abscess: An abscess is a pus-filled infection at the tooth's root or gum tissue. It can be super painful and cause swelling and a fever! If you suspect an abscess, seek immediate dental attention to stop the infection from spreading.
  • Lost Denture or Broken Partial: A missing or broken denture can make eating and talking a challenge. Don't let this put a damper on your day! We aim to help fix broken dentures and partials on the same day.

What To Expect During Your Visit

At Davis Smile Design, we know emergencies can be stressful. That's why the first thing we do is listen! We'll discuss your medical history and get a sense of what's going on with your smile.  Then, Dr. Davis will take a look at your teeth and gums and take X-rays (if needed), to get a complete picture of your emergency. The goal here is to figure out exactly what's causing the problem.

Once we have a clear diagnosis, Dr. Davis will explain all your options and answer any questions you might have. Together, we'll figure out the best course of action for getting you back to feeling your best.  And, of course, comfort is key! We offer different pain management options to make sure you're feeling relaxed throughout the entire procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Davis Smile Design consider a dental emergency?

Davis Smile Design considers a dental emergency to be any situation that requires immediate attention to prevent further complications, alleviate pain, or address damage to your teeth. The most common emergencies we treat include:

  • Severe toothache
  • Knocked-out tooth
  • Broken tooth or filling
  • Dental abscess
  • Jaw pain or swelling

How do I know if I should visit your office for my dental emergency?

An emergency dentist is the best course of action for most dental emergencies. Emergency dentists are equipped to handle dental issues specifically and can provide faster and more specialized care. However, if you experience a dental emergency accompanied by any of the following symptoms, we recommend going directly to your nearest emergency room:

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Fever or chills
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Facial trauma or fractures

Do you offer same-day appointments?

We know dental emergencies can be a real pain, and the last thing you need is to wait around in discomfort. Dr. Davis does her best to see emergency patients the same day, whenever possible.  We understand schedules can be tight, so give us a call as soon as you can, and we'll work hard to fit you in!

How much will my visit cost?

The cost of an emergency dental visit can vary, depending on what's going on with your smile. We understand that unexpected expenses can be stressful. That's why we'll work with you to determine the best course of action, considering the treatment and your financial situation. We'll discuss your insurance options and offer flexible payment plans if needed. Our priority is getting you the care you need, so let's talk about how to make that happen!
