Regularly scheduled checkups, cleanings, and dental hygiene education are the cornerstones of preventive dentistry. Our team will work with you to establish a personalized plan to keep your smile healthy and bright but we generally recommend coming to see Dr. Davis every 6 months. We will check for any cavities or signs of trouble during each exam to stop anything from progressing into more serious issues. We’ll also do a basic cleaning to remove any residue off the surface of your teeth.
Plaque and tartar buildup left to run rampant can lead to cavities and gum disease. That’s why in addition to your bi-annual dental exam, we recommend booking a cleaning as well. Our hygienists use specialized tools to gently but effectively remove calcified plaque from those hard-to-reach spots to leave your teeth squeaky clean.
Leaving gum disease untreated can lead to tooth loss and bone loss in the jaw. This may require you to eventually wear dentures or fork out for dental implants if the tooth loss is extensive. Our first line of defense when it comes to gum disease is root planing and scaling, a deep clean that removes plaque and tartar from beneath the gum line. We may also recommend a topical or oral antibiotic if the cleaning alone doesn’t eradicate gum disease.
Say goodbye to unsightly amalgam fillings! We only use tooth-colored composite fillings for a biocompatible, safe and natural result. Dr. Davis will clean out the cavity and match the resin to your teeth for a seamless finish.
Do you wake up groggy and grumpy? Your sleep may be getting interrupted by obstructive sleep apnea episodes! Luckily, mild to moderate cases can be easily helped with special oral appliances that help keep your airway open while you sleep.

We generally recommend you see Dr. Davis for biannual checkups and cleanings. However, she may recommend a different schedule based on your individual needs.
What happens during a dental checkup?
A typical checkup includes a visual examination, X-rays (if needed), and a light cleaning. Our Fort Worth dentist will discuss any issues picked up, recommend further treatment and answer any questions you may have.
